Welcome to our Year 5 Summer term page.
Summer Term Theme
This term’s topic is Victorian Llandudno. We will be looking through the eyes of Jim the “Street Child” by Berlie Doherty, which is our class reader this term.
We will investigate the development of Llandudno during the Victorian age. We will look at street names and buildings. Also Victorian entertainment such as Punch and Judy and the Codman family, the architecture of the Victorian buildings and finding out why were there so many theatres in Llandudno.
Earth day 22nd April 2021.

We will study the main features of Islam.
Special days during the term.
The children from both classes should wear their PE kits to school on Mondays.
Gloddaeth will also be doing PE on Wednesdays.
Heulfre will also be doing PE on Thursdays.
Comparing Llandudno with other locations.
The pupils will access their on-line teaching and learning resources provided by the Welsh Government through HWB. They have all received their HWB address. This site offers access to a wide range of digital tools and materials. Through their HWB account the children can access their Google Classroom, they can download Office 365 and Minecraft for Education is free.
Autumn Term Theme
This term we will be studying –
- Rivers (World, Wales etc)
- Visit to Llyn Brenig – virtually
- Map Work
- Story Writing (message in a bottle)
- Branwen (Welsh story)
- Science – water cycle, insulation, dissolving sugar in water, water usage
Dinner Money Payment
The school meals, cooked and served in the School Canteen, follow our healthy eating food project guidelines. The present cost is £2.75 per day for Infants and Juniors. All parents will receive Parent Pay details so that payment can be made on-line.
