“Wheels for a Week” – Monday October 1st – Friday 5th October
As part of the school’s effort to promote wellbeing and healthy lifestyles, pupils and staff are being encouraged to travel to and from school using bikes, scooters, skateboards or rollerblades/boots. Space will be made in the bike shed for storage. Please ensure appropriate safety equipment is worn at all times (helmets, elbow/knee pads etc). PLEASE also ensure that your child’s name is clearly marked on ALL their equipment and modes of transport.
It is parents’/guardians’ decision whether or not their children are responsible enough/old enough to travel to school on their own, and if not, to provide adequate supervision. Please take into consideration that the journey to school may take longer than usual and to plan accordingly to ensure pupils arrive on time.
Each day we will record how many pupils come to school using their own wheels and we will award a class at the end of the week with the highest number of journeys.
The school has kindly received a donation of a children’s bike from Ty Llywelyn. We are going to award this at the end of the week as a raffle prize. Pupils can buy raffle tickets on Friday 5th October for 50p per ticket – the raffle will be held during the afternoon. Proceeds will be shared between the school’s PE fund and Ty Llywelyn youth club. A photograph of the bike can be found on the e-mail sent to parents today.
