Letter from the Headteacher April 12th

URDD AREA EISTEDDFOD – Well done to all our pupils who competed in the Eisteddfod at Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy last weekend in singing and reciting. James Myatt came 2nd and Theo Abram came 3rd in the recitation for Year 5 & 6 learners. The Cerdd Dant party also came 2nd in their competition. Well done to all pupils who competed and thank you to the parents and staff for their continued support, well done all. We are very proud of our talented pupils. Da iawn pawb.

URDD ATHLETICS HEATS: These will be held during the day tomorrow Friday 12th April for Years 5 & 6 and the Year 3 & 4 heats will be held during the day on Thursday 2nd May. Please ensure that your child has their PE kit on those days, thank you.

PARENTS EVENINGS: It was lovely to see so many parents at the Parents Evenings. A reminder that Year 1 Class Seiriol’s parents evenings will be held after the Easter break – details to follow. If you have not as yet returned the GDPR permission form, please do so urgently, thank you.

SCHOOL DINNERS – PRICE INCREASE REMINDER. We have been advised by Conwy County Borough Council that the prices for school dinners will increase to £2.50 per meal after Easter. A copy of the new Summer menu has already been e-mailed and children have already brought copies home.

 PARENT PAY – SCHOOL DINNERS – please can you ensure that any overdue dinner monies are paid, thank you.

 SCHOOL TRIPS/PARENT PAY – please ensure that any school trips are paid by their due dates on Parent Pay – many thanks.

AFTER SCHOOL CLUB UPDATE: TRI-GOLF will be starting on Wednesday 1st May for Juniors from 3.30 – 4.15pm (Years 3 to 6)

Please note that there will be no Urdd on Thursday May 2nd

NURSERY STARTERS SEPTEMBER THIS YEAR: If you have a child who will be 3 years old by 31st August 2019, you will need to apply for a place in our Nursery Class (applications were due before 14th December). If you have applied for a place, you will be receiving letters in the next few weeks.

MISS ALICE COMPETITION (Saturday 1st June). Llandudno Town Council have provided a limited number of Application forms for those youngsters in the age range of 8-10 years on 1st June 2019. The closing date is Friday, 17th May. Forms are available from the school office.

NATIONAL TEST DATES Years 2 – 6 This year’s statutory tests for pupils in Years 2 to 6 will take place between Tuesday 7 May to Tuesday 14 May 2019. These tests are statutory, that is to say every child in the relevant age groups must sit them and they can only be administered during the official time period above. Please note that any applications for any holidays during this period will not be approved. For further information about the national tests, visit the Welsh Government’s learning Wales website at www.learning.gov.wales.

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS– please note the following – finishing/start dates.

Please ensure that children have PE kits with them on the day for sporting afterschool clubs.

Monday Dragon Sports -3.30 – 4.15pm, Years 4 to 6.

Monday Netball 3.30 – 4.15pm Years 4 to 6

Monday Football 12.45-1.15pm Years 3 – 6 by invitation – children to see Mr Huw Llewelyn Jones if interested please. If your child is attending these sessions, please ensure they have appropriate clothing with them – sessions take place on the school field.

Tuesday Cookery Club 3.30 – 4.30pm – Year 6 – as advised in individual letters.

Wednesday Rugby 3.30 – 4.15pm, Years 3 – 6

Wednesday TRI-GOLF 3.30 – 4.15pm, Years 3 – 6 re-starting 1st May

Wednesday Learning to Be sessions (Tuition services £10 per session, contact 07952 065735 as per instructions from them). Free taster sessions are available!

Thursdays 3.30 – 4.15pm Clwb Urdd. No Urdd THURSDAY 2nd May

Ty Llywelyn Homework Club held Monday to Friday. 4 – 5.30pm.

DATES FOR THE DIARY:

Easter Break: the last day of term will be this Friday 12th April. There is a training day on Monday 29th April, therefore children will be back in school on TUESDAY 30th April.

Monday 6th May is a Bank Holiday.

Half Term: Last day in school will be Friday 24th May, children will be back in school on Monday 3rd June.

Summer Holidays: Last day in school is Friday 19th July.

September 19 start date: 2nd September is a Training Day, children will be back in school on Tuesday 3rd September.
