Dear Parents/Guardians
At the end of this term I will be leaving Ysgol Craig y Don to take up a temporary, two year secondment with GwE, the School Effectiveness and Improvement Service for North Wales. This secondment is a personal and professional development opportunity for me and I am looking forward to working as a Challenge Advisor with schools across North Wales.
We have a very capable Deputy Headteacher in Mrs Elaine Gelling who will become the Acting Headteacher in my absence. Mrs Gelling has taught at the school for over twenty seven years and no one knows the school and its community better. Since becoming Deputy Head she has played an essential role in school development and bringing about improvements in standards. She has also previously proved herself successful in the role of Acting Headteacher at Ysgol Rhydgaled. The Governors will be recruiting an Acting Deputy Headteacher and it is hoped they will be in post before the end of the summer term.
I have every confidence that the school will continue to make great progress under Mrs Gelling’s leadership and that all the staff will continue to work towards the highest possible standards in teaching and learning, ensuring that your child receives excellent provision in fulfilling their potential.
In the interim, I thank you for all the support that you have shown me as Headteacher at Ysgol Craig y Don and I’m sure that you will offer the same support to Mrs Gelling in her new role as Acting Headteacher.
Yours sincerely
Iwan Lloyd Jones, Headteacher
