Dear Parents/Carers
NATIONAL TESTS – Years 2 to 6. As you know, these statutory tests for pupils in years 2 to 6 will take place between Wednesday 3rd May and 10th May. The Welsh Government has published the ‘Reading and Numeracy tests in Wales – 2017 Information for parents and carers of children in Years 2 to 9’ document which can be found on the following link http://learning.gov.wales/docs/learningwales/publications/170413-information-for-parents-carers-2-9-en.pdf URDD NATIONAL EISTEDDFOD – This is a costly undertaking for families and we are keen that collectively, we raise as much money as we possibly can towards the cost of the trip. To this end, we would be grateful if you could let us know of any local businesses that would like to sponsor/donate towards the costs. The next fundraising meeting will be held on Monday 8th May at 3.30pm – all welcome.
NEW SUMMER LUNCH MENU & PRICE INCREASES REMINDER Please remember that the price of school dinners will increase after the Easter break by five pence per meal. Meals for infants (Reception to Year 2) will be £2.15 and Juniors will be £2.20. A copy of the menu has been e-mailed/sent home with pupils – if your child has any allergies, please can you check the menu and let the school know of any issues, thank you.
YEAR 6 – Assisted School Transport forms will be given to Year 6 pupils who live more than 3 miles from their chosen Secondary School. If your child does not receive a form and you feel they may be eligible, copies are available from the office. Copies of the documents will also be e-mailed to parents.
URDD CERDD DANT SINGING PRACTICE – will be held on Mondays from 8th May, 3.30- 4.15pm, it is very important that everyone makes every effort to attend please.
Change to the Urdd After School Club. The Urdd Club will not be held on a weekly basis this term but we have arranged for Rhydian Prys, the Development Officer from the Conwy/Denbigh Regional Offices of the Urdd to hold the following sessions. The sessions for Urdd Members will include multi-skills and will hopefully be held on the school field (weather permitting) and is a great opportunity for your child to participate in different sporting activities. The dates that the Urdd Club will be held are Thursday May 11th, May 25th and June the 15th – please ensure your child brings their PE kit. The sessions will be held from 3.30 – 4.15pm as usual.
URDD AREA ATHLETIC DATES: These will be held 17th May in Ysgol Nant y Coed for those that have qualified to enter from Ysgol Craig y Don following heats that will be held beforehand during school time. If successful in the Area competition, the winners will go through to the County Urdd Athletics at Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay on June the 6th. Further details to follow.
URDD CROSS COUNTRY EVENT/TRAWSGWLAD Years 3 to 6. As previously informed, the event scheduled for today was cancelled. THE NEW DATE FOR THE EVENT IS MONDAY 26TH JUNE AT 6PM – further details to follow.
AFTERSCHOOL CLUBS
Mondays – Dragon Sports for Years 4, 5 and 6 will commence 8th May. 3.30-4.15pm
Mondays – Cerdd Dant Urdd Singing Practice – 3.30 – 4.15pm.
Tuesdays – Cookery Club Year 6 – will continue on a rota basis. 3.30-4.30pm
Wednesdays – TRI- GOLF SESSIONS for Years 4 & 5, 3.30 – 4.15pm
Wednesdays – Gardening Club (Reception classes – as per details provided)
URDD (Years 3 to 6) – sessions are only being held on the following dates this term. Thursday May 11th, 25th and June 15th (3.30 – 4.15pm). Thursdays – FITC FOOTBALL CLUB for girls and boys (Years 1 & 2 and Juniors) run by Llandudno Football in the Community (FITC). The first three sessions today will be free of charge, payment will need to be made after these sessions. Sessions for Years 1 & 2 will run between 3pm and 3:30pm; after the first three free sessions the weekly cost will be £1.50. Sessions for Years 3, 4 5 & 6 will run between 3:30pm and 4:30pm; after the first three free sessions the weekly cost will be £2.50.
PTA FILM NIGHT EVENTS – these have been arranged for –
Tuesday 16th May – FILM NIGHT Reception Classes (Penrhyn & Gogarth) 3-4.30pm £1.50 per pupil to include crisps and drink. Please can you ensure that payment is in an envelope showing your childs name/class and stating Film Night on the day.
Wednesday 17th May – FILM NIGHT Years 1 to 3, from 3–4.30pm £1.50 per pupil to include crisps and drink. Please can you ensure that payment is in an envelope showing your childs name/class and stating Film Night on the day.
Thursday 18th May – FILM NIGHT Years 4 to 6 from 3.30 – 5.15 £2.50 per pupil to include hot dog and drink.

May half term – week commencing Monday 29th May, back to school on Monday 5th June.
