Letter from Headteacher June 9th

We are entering a very busy time in school with school trips, sponsored walks and sports days etc. Please take the time read through this letter noting any events relevant to you/your children – we have also included a page at the end of the letter with most events included in date order (excluding school trips). Please remember, all events can be seen on our School Calendar on our school website.

DINNER MONEY ARREARS: The current arrears total is well over £1000 and obviously I am keen to reduce this substantially. There are numerous children who have arrears running between £10 and £20 and I believe these exist because their parents have simply forgotten to pay for dinners on certain occasions. I therefore propose, over the next few weeks, to review the dinner registers and send a reminder home with the appropriate children. I will be grateful if you could settle the arrears as a matter of URGENCY.

NUT & NUT PRODUCTS. We are currently in discussion with the Local Authority regarding the issue of nuts and nut products here at Ysgol Craig y Don. Whilst these discussions are ongoing, we have no intention of banning nuts and nut products until notified to do so. However, nut allergies are serious and life threatening and controlling such substances in crowded areas like the school hall at lunchtime is very difficult, indeed almost impossible. Therefore, we ask very kindly that you think carefully before including nuts and nut products in your child’s packed lunch.

Year 6 Transition Week to Ysgol John Bright – w/c 3rd July 2017 (however please note that our Year 6 pupils will be on their school trip with us on Tuesday 4th July to Llangollen). If children are not attending our school trip on 4th July, they will attend Ysgol John Bright.

JUMP TO JUNIORS MEETING FOR current Year 2 and current Year 3 PARENTS. This will be held at 4pm on Wednesday 5th July.

AFTERSCHOOL FOOTBALL CLUB – we have been advised by Llandudno’s Football in the Community that there will be no after school clubs this term. Apologies for the inconvenience which is unfortunately out of our control.

CHANGE TO SCHOOL MENU FOR WEEK 3, TUESDAYS – reminder – Chicken goujons will be served with a dipping sauce/curry on the side (this is because there are supply issues with the chicken curry/fricassee).
