Letter from Headteacher 9th February

Dear Parents/Carers

St. David’s Day Coffee Morning: This will be held in the School Hall on Thursday 1st March from 9.30am to 11am. Donations of homemade cakes will be gratefully received and will be sold for .50 pence per cake. Funds raised this year will go towards our Craig y Pod Lead Creative School Project which is an excellent opportunity to develop teaching and learning creatively.

Children are also welcome to wear Welsh Costume or red/green and white on the day (no donation necessary for wearing own clothes)

SCHOOL CLOSURE PROCEDURES: In the rare event of a school closure, please be assured that we will text parents/carers as soon as a decision is made – there is no need to telephone the school to ask. Thank you for your co-operation.

YSGOL CRAIG Y DON WORLD BOOK DAY: The date of this is yet to be determined but to avoid confusion, it will not be held on Thursday 1st March as this is the day of our St David’s Day Celebrations. We will let you know the date asap after the Half Term break.

Grapes/Cherry Tomatoes in lunch boxes. In the interests of health and safety please can we ask that you cut grapes or cherry tomatoes before they go into your child’s lunch box. They should always be cut lengthwise so they can pass more easily through smaller throats. And never widthwise, because they’ll still be big enough to choke on.

Any uncut grapes or cherry tomatoes will unfortunately be sent back home as we have to prioritise the children’s safety in school at all times. Thank you for your understanding and support.

No Nuts in School. Please refrain from including nuts/nut products e.g. peanut butter in packed lunches as there are many children with this allergy. For your awareness, in the most severe cases, anaphylaxis could occur by just being in close vicinity to these products.

SCHOOL CROSSING PATROL: Please note that there is still no School Crossing Patrol. Details of the job and hours involved have already been e-mailed to Parents/Carers.

LOST PROPERTY: The Lost Property Box is available in School Reception. Please note that any items left for more than two weeks will be disposed of/recycled – this is in line with health and hygiene regulations. Thank you.
