Letter from Headteacher 7th April

Dear Parents/Carers

Here is wishing you all a very happy and peaceful Easter break at the end of what has been a term full of achievement and activities. We are so proud of all our pupils and grateful for all the time, energy and efforts of our staff.  On your behalf, I thank all those involved in all the trips and visits including Cardiff, Aber Falls, the local park, RSPB, STEM event in Venue Cymru and so on and so on.  Huge congratulations also to the pupils who took part so successfully once again in the Urdd Eisteddfod and good luck to them in the National round in Bridgend in May.  If you can help us in any way with fund-raising or sponsorship for this event, please get in touch.  Thank you to everyone.

TEMPEST CLASS PHOTOGRAPHS – any orders will be need to be returned by Friday 28th April please.

URDD CROSS COUNTRY EVENT/TRAWSGWLAD years 3 to 6. Unfortunately we have been informed that the event this year scheduled for Thursday 27th April at the Faenol, Bangor has been cancelled.

PTA EASTER RAFFLE– Raffle tickets were sold around school by some of our helpful Year 5 pupils. The raffles raised an amazing £250.91!  Our lucky winners were Christopher Venezia from Dosbarth Cybi and Eva Spencer from Dosbarth Maelgwyn.

AFTERSCHOOL CLUB UPDATES

Mondays – Dragon Sports for Years 4, 5 and 6 will commence 8th May

Mondays – School Urdd Singing Practice – to be advised.

Tuesdays – Cookery Club Year 6 – will continue on a rota basis.

Tuesdays – Tennis – cancelled until further notice.

Wednesdays – Netball – cancelled until further notice.

Wednesdays – TRI- GOLF SESSIONS for Years 4 & 5 will resume on Wed 26th April.

Wednesdays – Gardening Club (Reception classes – as per details provided)

Thursdays – Urdd will re-commence on Thursday 4th May.

Thursdays – FITC FOOTBALL CLUB for girls and boys (Years 1 & 2 and Juniors) run by Llandudno Football in the Community (FITC) will re-start on Thursday 27th April – they apologise for the inconvenience caused over the last few weeks. The first three sessions will be free of charge, payment will need to be made after these sessions. Sessions for Years 1 & 2 will run between 3pm and 3:30pm; after the first three free sessions the weekly cost will be £1.50. Sessions for Years 3, 4 5 & 6 will run between 3:30pm and 4:30pm; after the first three free sessions the weekly cost will be £2.50.

RED NOSE DAY COSTUME COMPETITION – the winners were Brooklyn from Dosbarth Conwy and Ellie-May from Dosbarth Gogarth.

NEW SUMMER LUNCH MENU & PRICE INCREASES REMINDER Please remember that the price of school dinners will increase after the Easter break by five pence per meal. This means the cost of a school dinner for Infants will be £2.15 and Juniors will be £2.20 from when we return after Easter. Please note that Tuesday’s meal on 25th April will be Monday’s menu item of breaded chicken fillet.

MISS ALICE COMPETITION 2017 a limited number of application forms are available from the school office. The closing date for applications to the Town Hall is Friday 19th May.

Years 2 to 6 NATIONAL NUMERACY and READING TESTS Reminder: This year’s statutory tests for pupils in years 2 to 6 will take place between Wednesday 3rd May and 10th May.  These tests are statutory, that is to say every child in the relevant year groups must sit them and they can only be administered during the official time period above.  Therefore, we do not expect any children in years 2 to 6 to be on holiday during the period from April 25th to 11th May.  The school will not authorise holidays taken by pupils during this period.

SCHOOL DATES

Children will return to school on Tuesday 25th April.

Friday 28th April Last day for Tempest orders.

1st May – Bank Holiday no school

May half term – week commencing Monday 29th May, back to school on Monday 5th June.
