Letter from Headteacher 30th November 2016

Dear Parents/Carers

CHRISTMAS FAIR – will be held Thursday 15th December 3-5pm. There will be Hot Food available, teas/coffees, Cake Stall, Tombolas (bottle and childrens tombola), christmas gifts for sale, Santa’s Grotto and a large raffle. If you know of anyone who would like to donate prizes to the raffle, please let Reception know. We still need volunteers to help with the Fair – please let Reception know if you can help set up, man a stall or help tidy up after the event – without your support, the Christmas Fair will not be held.

RAFFLE – The list of raffle prizes will be sent separately. There are many fantastic items well worth winning and we don’t want anyone to miss out on the opportunity. Tickets are available for purchase at the school from Monday 5th December – £1 a go.

Entry to Christmas Fair: The fair starts at 3pm. We expect that many KS2 pupils will want to attend the fair and will be allowed to do so from 3pm onwards. If you will be collecting your KS2 child from school as normal at 3.30pm, you will still be able to do so at the usual access point. PLEASE ENSURE YOUR CHILD UNDERSTANDS THE ARRANGEMENTS YOU HAVE MADE. Any child attending after school provision will be collected by the relevant staff as per usual.

URDD SWIMMING GALA – CONWY. We had the following successes in this recent event – well done to all those that took part!

CHILDREN IN NEED Friday 18th November – SPOTACULAR. We raised £391.13 on the day – thank you for your support.

 Infants Christmas Concert Tickets.

Most ticket requests have now been returned to the office and will be handed out by teachers to parents/carers on Friday afternoon. Any tickets left over on Friday will be allocated as spares on a first come first served basis. If you would like to request spare tickets, please TELEPHONE Reception BEFORE FRIDAY and your name will be added to the Waiting List. We will endeavour to deal with any reasonable request for extra tickets however we cannot guarantee that we will be able to meet any further demands for tickets.

Please remember, one ticket is for one person, old or young, and we have no room for prams or pushchairs in the hall. Again, we emphasise no ticket, no entry.

I appreciate that it may make it more difficult for both a child’s parents to attend or for extended family members to attend but the decision to limit numbers in this way has been made for the best possible reasons as the safety of all those involved, performers, staff and audience members, is our primary concern. We simply cannot allow unlimited, unknown numbers of people to turn up at the door. This would be totally irresponsible of us and we received positive feedback from parents regarding last year’s ticketing system.

AFTER SCHOOL FOOTBALL ON TUESDAYS & DRAGON SPORTS on MONDAYS – please note these clubs have been cancelled for the time being and will re-start at some point in the New Year.

HARP LESSONS (Years 3 to 6): We currently have one space for harp lessons. Please contact Reception if your child is interested.

WOODLAND TRUST – Wildlife Hedgerow. We have received 105 saplings from the Woodland Trust (free of charge) to grow a wildlife hedge at the back of the school. The Eco-Council had great fun last week planting!

Teams4U – Christmas Shoeboxes – we collected a total of 42 shoeboxes this year, thank you!

Thursday 15th December – Panto/Aladdin (Years 1 to 6). £9.50 per child – if you have not already done so, please return payment to school this week if you want your child to attend, thank you. Provision will be made in school for those who have not paid.

Save the Children CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY Friday 16th December. We will be supporting this event and children are welcome to come to school wearing a Christmas Jumper if they want to – donations to go towards this worthy cause.

School Website. Please remember to check the Calendar and the Classes information on the school website to keep up to date with events/activities/photographs.

Thank you for your continued co-operation. A summary of Dates for the Diary can be found on the following page.

Yours sincerely

Iwan Lloyd Jones, Headteacher
