Letter from Headteacher 2nd December

Dear Parents/Carers                                                                                                       2nd December 2020

Christmas Jumper/Christmas Clothes Day – every Friday up until Christmas

We all enjoyed seeing the children in their xmas jumpers last Friday, therefore to continue the good cheer we thought it would be lovely to wear xmas jumpers/Christmassy clothes every Friday leading up to Christmas. There is no need to buy anything new – you can just use the same jumper/clothes as last week. No money or donations are required. Children can still wear their school uniform if you wish.

Thank you all for the many donations towards Hope Restored last Friday – they were overwhelmed with your generosity.

Christmas Video – We know that many of us feel disappointed that we are unable to do our usual Christmas concerts this year. So, we have used this as an opportunity for us all to come together (virtually) and produce something as a whole school. We will be creating a montage of joyful Christmassy moments across the school that we can then share with our Ysgol Craig y Don families.  Thank you to all the staff. Diolch yn fawr iawn i’r staff!

Christmas cards for local Care Homes. All our junior pupils have been making Christmas cards for local care homes – a total of 197 cards have been made and they will be distributed next week. The cards include some beautiful artwork and heartfelt messages. We are very proud of our pupils.

Thanks – many thanks to B & M, Llandudno who have donated two boxes of brick playsets to the school. Thanks also to the grandparent of pupils at the school who delivered them.

Tempest photos reminder – these are scheduled for Wednesday 13th January.

Parking outside school – reminder

We have received several requests from neighbours to remind people about parking cars at the beginning and the end of the school day. Please, park responsibly and according to the rules and laws laid down in the Highway Code. Here are links to further information:

The speed limit of 20mph and the road markings on the carriageway outside school along with the general rules regarding parking at junctions, double parking, parking on pavements and in front of private properties are there to keep everyone safe, especially at this time of year when visibility is reduced due to the weather and lack of light. There are ample parking spaces to be found away from the school. Again, please park responsibly.

Chasebell – Out of Hours School club (on site) – The Out of School Club has vacancies and they will be opening during the Christmas holidays for anyone who needs childcare. Please telephone 07775 721335 or 07775 721333 for more information – all children must be registered there before they can attend. Thank yu

Appropriate Clothing Reminder – pupils will need waterproof coats, warm clothes, hats, gloves, scarves etc. in order to make the most of the outdoors and the fresh air. But please, put their names on the labels. It makes life so much easier. We cannot store any lost property.

School Information Reminder – Please continue to check our school website and Twitter page for any updates and photos/videos https://twitter.com/YsgCyD. The letters from the Headteacher can be found on the News section of the website.

SCHOOL DINNERS – the cost for these is £2.70 a day and payment is to be made via Parent Pay. Please ensure that you pay in advance for any dinners your child/ren have.

NURSERY PLACES SEPTEMBER 2021 REMINDER: Please find attached information on how you can apply on-line for a Nursery place at our school if you have a child who is 3 before August 31st 2021. Applications are to be done on-line at www.conwy.gov.uk/admissions please.

TEAMS FOR U CHARITY APPEAL (FILLED SHOEBOXES) – REMINDER. This appeal is still going ahead, however, this year we are not able to collect boxes in school but you can still take part. If you would like to fill a shoebox as a Christmas gift for disadvantaged children, please e-mail school requesting a leaflet or download a form from their website. Filled boxes can then be taken by you direct to Grand Prix Express at Swan Road, Mochdre Business Park, Colwyn Bay, Conwy. They have a section of their warehouse available to Teams For U. The deadline for this is the 9th of December (the earlier the better though)

Contacting school – just a reminder that parents/carers should please contact us via e-mail with reasons for absences and general queries.  Please only phone the school if urgent. Thank you for your continued co-operation.

School Dates

The last day of term will be Friday 18th December. Pupils will return to school on Tuesday 5th January (Monday 4th January is a Training day so no school for pupils).

Yours sincerely
