WORLD BOOK DAY FRIDAY 8TH MARCH: We will be celebrating World Book Day in school on Friday 8th March. Children are welcome to come to school dressed as a book character if they wish to do so. If you have already received your book tokens please note that the official World Book Day on the tokens is stated as 7th March but we will be celebrating on Friday 8th March.

YEAR 5 Creative Schools Project: As part of their Creative School Project, Year 5 are taking part in a Grow a £1 scheme. This means that on Fridays (and Fridays only) Year 5 pupils will be bringing items in to sell to Junior Pupils. If you would like to support this Project, Junior pupils can therefore bring money in on a Friday to buy items. Thank you for your support, Year 5 teachers.

WEAR RED FOR COMIC RELIEF – FRIDAY 15th MARCH. We will be raising money towards Comic Relief on 15th March – children are welcome to WEAR RED/own clothes if they wish to do so in lieu of a donation towards this cause.

MUSIC LESSONS SPRING TERM 2019 REMINDER: Please note that Music Lesson charges for this term have now been added to Parent Pay accounts. Please can you arrange for payment as soon as possible. Thank you

PARENT PAY – SCHOOL DINNERS – please can you ensure that any overdue dinner monies are paid, thank you.

NOFIO / SWIMMING & WATER SAFETY SESSIONS – ALL JUNIORS (Years 3 – 6) Monday 18th March to Friday 29th March inclusive (i.e. every day for two weeks/mornings). Please ensure that your child has his/her swimming kit with them every day – consent forms/further details will be going out to pupils today and need returning by this Friday 22nd February please.

PTA FILM NIGHT YEARS 1 & 2 AND JUNIORS VALENTIES DISCO: a total of £392.89 was raised towards the PTA funds and the children all enjoyed themselves – many thanks to the parents and staff involved who helped make the events possible.

NATIONAL TEST DATES Years 2 – 6 This year’s statutory tests for pupils in Years 2 to 6 will take place between Tuesday 7 May to Tuesday 14 May 2019. These tests are statutory, that is to say every child in the relevant age groups must sit them and they can only be administered during the official time period above. Please note that any applications for any holidays during this period will not be approved. Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Sir Conwy August 2019 Reminder – Coins for ConwyMr.Dilwyn Price gave a service to the whole school recently to promote the coming of the National Eisteddfod to Conwy County in August.  He is requesting that we (and many other schools), help to raise money by collecting small change towards the funds. He will return on March 11th to gather the coins and have a fun activity as a thank you. A yoghurt potful, for example, will be much appreciated.

CHRISTMAS SHOEBOX APPEAL: Thank you so much for taking part and being involved in our Shoebox Appeal before Christmas! A staggering 51,315 Shoebox gifts were sent to children overseas in total. Nationally, shoeboxes travelled to displaced people groups in Breza, Bosnia; orphanages in Minsk, Belarus and marginalised communities in Bralia, Cluj-Napoca, Oradea and Tulcea, Romania. Your generous gifts went to villages and schools around the city of Oradea in the Bihor county of Romania. You can view photos of the distribution here on their website.

URDD EISTEDDFOD COMPETITIONS: The area Urdd Eisteddfod is on Saturday March 23rd, at Ysgol y Creuddyn and Glanwydden. The County Urdd Eisteddfod is on Saturday April 6th at Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy, Llanrwst. Some practices have already begun. The Urdd National Eisteddfod is held during the Whitsun half term at Cardiff Bay in May. These dates can be found on the school calendar on our website or from the urdd website.

NURSERY STARTERS SEPTEMBER THIS YEAR: If you have a child who will be 3 years old by 31st August 2019, you will need to apply for a place in our Nursery Class (applications were due before 14th December). If you have not completed a form already, they are available from school reception – please complete and return the form urgently. Thank you.

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS– please note the following – finishing/start dates.

Monday Dragon Sports -3.30 – 4.15pm, Years 4 to 6. There will be no session on 11th March.

Monday Netball 3.30 – 4.15pm Years 4 to 6

Monday Football 12.45-1.15pm Years 3 – 6 by invitation – children to see Mr Huw Llewelyn Jones if interested please. If your child is attending these sessions, please ensure they have appropriate clothing with them – sessions take place on the school field.

Tuesday Cookery Club 3.30 – 4.30pm – Year 6 – as advised in individual letters.

Wednesday Rugby 3.30 – 4.15pm, Years 3 – 6

Wednesday Learning to Be sessions (Tuition services £10 per session, contact 07952 065735 as per instructions from them)

Please note that Tri-Golf sessions are not being run at the moment.

Thursdays 3.30 – 4.15pm Clwb Urdd.

Ty Llywelyn Homework Club held Monday to Friday. 4 – 5.30pm.
