Dear Parents/Carers
You may well be aware by now that due to a positive lateral flow test result for one of our staff members, the Meithrin and Derbyn classes, both staff and pupils are currently having to self isolate. I sincerely hope that Environmental Health will see that the mitigation measures we have in place, will allow us to reopen these classes before the 10 day isolation period. We will have to wait and see. As soon as I know anything, you will be informed.
All schools in Wales have been provided with lateral flow test kits for their staff as have nursery settings and other after school provision. We have been asked by the Authority to complete these tests on a Wednesday and Sunday evening at 6pm. The results of these tests are submitted to Public Health Wales and to the school. Should one of these tests return as positive for Covid-19, we then follow the protocols and measures laid down by Track and Trace and Environmental Health. Unfortunately, it could potentially mean that we will be contacting you fairly late in the evening informing you that your child’s class is closed until notified otherwise. It’s not ideal but we have no other choice.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during this most challenging of times. I will do my best to keep you informed of all developments.
On a happier note, we are all looking forward to the phased return of Key Stage 2 pupils next week (Juniors). It will mean obviously that there are more people congregating outside school and I kindly remind parents to please wear face coverings and keep 2 metres apart when dropping off and collecting your children.
Can we also remind you to please e-mail if your child is not attending school for any reason as we need to keep the phones free for urgent calls. Many thanks.
Let’s keep each other safe.
Iwan Lloyd Jones, Headteacher
