Letter from Headteacher 16th March 2018

Dear Parents/Carers                                                   

PARENTPAY – DINNER MONEY ONLY: You’ve all received the flyer regarding the authority’s modernisation plan for payments and banking.  Activation letters will be distributed to you next week in order for you to set up your accounts over Easter.  We will be going live from Tuesday, April 10th.  We will begin with Dinner Money payments ONLY and roll out other payments before September. E.g. School Trips.  However, we will need time to embed the system, so please bear with us.

TEMPEST PHOTOGRAPHY – CLASS PHOTOS These will be taken on Monday 19th March.

REMINDER– NURSERY & RECEPTION SPONSORED SINGALONG: Please can any outstanding monies be brought to school as soon as possible please.

SPORT RELIEF ACTIVITIES:

Pupils will have the opportunity during this week to take part in a number of fun sporting activities. We ask that pupils can bring in a donation of £1 for the whole week – half of the money will go towards Sport Relief and half towards new sporting equipment for the school. Please ensure that children bring their FULL PE KITS every day, including a pair of trainers/pumps. Please ensure those pupils with asthma inhalers bring them to school. Activities include: Whole School Daily Mile, Mass Circuit Session. Also, in support of the Commonwealth Games Team Wales, children have the option of WEARING RED ON FRIDAY 23rd March. Further information on this fun week can be found in the separate Sport Relief letter to parents.

PTA UPDATE.

EASTER TREASURE HUNT Thursday 22nd March £2 per child: Details have already been e-mailed home and children have received Pre-Booking forms. Infants Treasure Hunt will take place from 3pm (must be accompanied by an adult) and the Juniors Treasure Hunt will take place from 3.30 – 4.15pm. Pre-Booking Forms are due back by Tuesday 20th March at the latest please.

POP UP SHOP – MOTHER’S DAY GIFTS: Thanks to everyone for their support – funds raised will be announced next week.

DESIGN A LOGO COMPETITION: Once again, thank you for all the entries. The winner is Frankie from Dosbarth Llywelyn – we hope he enjoys spending his Smyths voucher!

TEST DATES YEARS 2 to 6 – This year’s statutory tests for pupils in years 2 to 6 will take place between Wednesday 2nd May and 9th May. These tests are statutory, that is to say every child in the relevant age groups must sit them and they can only be administered during the official time period above. Therefore, we do not expect any children in years 2 to 6 to be on holiday during the period of the tests and 2 weeks beforehand. The school will not authorise holidays taken by pupils during this period. SCHOOL CLOSURE PROCEDURES: In the rare event of a school closure, please be assured that we will text parents/carers as soon as a decision is made – there is no need to telephone the school to ask. You can also look on the CCBC website under School Closures. Thank you for your co-operation.

SCHOOL CROSSING PATROL: Please note that there is still no School Crossing Patrol.

URDD EISTEDDFOD UPDATE

The County Eisteddfod takes place tomorrow 17th March in Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy, Llanrwst – full details have been given to those participating.

Wednesday 21/3/18 Cân Actol, competition is in Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy (after school) – details to be confirmed. If successful in the March competitions, the National Eisteddfod is being held in Builth Wells at the start of the whit week holidays w/c 28th May.

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS – please make a note of dates for the following if your child/children attend any of the clubs:

Monday 3.30-4.15 DRAGON SPORTS (Tennis) Years 3 – 6. This is weather dependent, please collect children if it is raining or there are high winds.

Monday 3.30-4.15 NETBALL Years 3- 6. This is weather dependent, please collect children if it is raining or there are high winds.

Tuesday TENNIS – currently Year 1. From 3-3.45pm. Please ensure your child is wearing trainers on the day. We are still awaiting a letter from CCBC confirming the details of this afternoon club.

Tuesday 3.30-4.30 COOKERY CLUB Year 6 (on a rota basis)

Tuesday 3.30 – 4.30 Years 3 – 6 with Llandudno FOOTBALL in the Community Details available from LlFiC – we are still awaiting a letter from the club to distribute to parents.

Wednesday 3.30 – 4.15 TRI-GOLF –open to Years 3 to 6 (in the school hall).

Thursday 3.30 – 4.15pm URDD Years 3 to 6 (normally held in school hall)

 SCHOOL HOLIDAY DATES:

Easter: Last day of school is Friday 23rd March , there is a training day on 9th April so children will be back in school on Tuesday 10th April.

May Day Bank Holiday: Monday 7th May – school will be closed.

May half Term: Last day of school is Friday 25th May, return to school Monday 4th June.

Monday 2nd July – as previously advised, children will be in school as normal.

Summer Holidays – last day in school will be Thursday 19th July.
